Although Apple is touting the performance of its new iMac and Mac mini desktops, a new test shows that newer processors from Intel have had little impact on the computers' true speed.
Benchmarks run by Primate Labs through its own Geekbench test suite have confirmed that any benefit from the updated Core 2 Duo processors comes purely through clock speed.
When clock speeds are identical between systems, such as with the new low-end 2.66GHz iMac and a mid-range predecessor from last year, the difference in test scores becomes almost unnoticeable, coming down to 11 points in the case of the two all-in-ones. Even the 2.93GHz iMac, which replaces a 2.8GHz model, has only a 189-point advantage -- or about a 5 percent speed difference that directly maps to the higher clock rate.
The largest relative gain in tests is for the Mac mini, which still only gains about 7 percent despite leaping two generations ahead in processor technology at 2GHz.

Currently it is only available in Delhi, within a radius of 10-12 kilometres from Akashvani Bhawan, Parliament Street.
While moving in the streets of new delhi near SANSAD bhawan yesterday,i was playing out with my nokia n73, I reached the application labelled ‘Mobile TV’, I wasn’t even going to turn it on because I had something at the back of my mind which said ‘doesn’t work’ to me, still this being my first DVB-H handset, I opened it.
To my absolute surprise I was served with a programme guide for the entire ‘Doordarshan Network’. It offered me a list of over 10 DD based channels such as DD News, DD India, DD Sports etc which I could simply click on to watch. Needless to say, I selected one and within two seconds I was watching the channel live and with a tilt towards the left - in fullscreen mode. No 3G, no internet - nothing. The quality was really super. Period. Even the small text that news channels generally have scrolling beneath the screen was clearly visible. Hitting next on the multimedia buttons or near the D-pad would take me to the next channel and within a second the new content would be playing on the n73’s beautiful 2.8″ screen. The volume was good and was handled by the volume keys on the right side of the device.
All i can say is I was amazed by this service.
