Shivaji University, Kolhapur has declared the results of various disciplines for the exams held in the first half of October/November/December 2008. The B. Ed. results of Dr. B. R. Ambedhkar University are eagerly awaited for a long time. These results are supposed to be published on the official website www.dbrau.ac.in. But even the home page of the website is not opening and there is not much on other sites mentioning this. Candidates are perplexed.

One more address where these results are to be published is search.dbrau.ac.in/result.asp. But the same problem here too. We can just wait and watch.

National Conference chief Omar Abdullahhas been declared winner on Ganderbal seat. Omar defeated his PDP rival Qazi Mohammed Afzal. In 2002 polls he exprienced a bitter defeat and despite been advised to contest from other constituency, Omar acted otherwise and came out clear winner.

The moment he arrived at Ganderbal his supporters and people received Omar warmly. Happy Omar Abdullah said, "I am elated and thankful to people of my Ganderbal constituency who have given me a chance to serve them, which I will be doing in the right earnest."

Hyundai India is all set to launch its new car i20 today. Hyundai i20 is basically hatchback with five doors. Hyundai i20 had already released i10 successfully. i20 has already been released in Paris earlier in Paris this year.This launch of new car by Hyundai defies all the conventions as in these times of recession companies are hesitating to launch new car models.

Hyundai i20 is targeted at B and B+ segment customers and has impressive features. i20 has good large headlamps, cool sporty round fog lamps and top notch interiors. The car is in direct competition with Maruti Suzuki Swift Zxi and Skoda Fabia. The car has 1.2 liters kappa engine.

Hyundai i20 is expected to be priced at Rs 4.8lacs to 5.7 lacs

 

The verdict for the By-elections held for eight assembly constituencies of Karnataka is just around the corner. The counting has begun amid tight security. It is estimated that around 74 percent of the 1.3 voters have cast their votes.

Seven seats were left vacant due to "Operation Lotus" launched by the BJP, during which it successfully engineered defections from Congress and JDS. It is left to be seen whether the "Operation Lotus" of BJP is able to get it majority in 224 member assembly.

This election is very critical for the prestige of BJP as the four defectors Balachandra Jarkhiholi, K. Shivana Gouda Naik, Umesh Katti (all formerly of JD-S) and Anand Asnotikar (formerly Congress) are contesting as its candidates.

The hottest seat is perhaps Madhugiri where Anita Kumaraswamy is contesting against C. Chennigappa, the JD-S defector. Anita is 44-year-old wife of former chief minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and runs Kasturi, a Kannada TV channel.

Update : BJP is all set to gain majority as it won six out of eight seats as counting results are coming. Balachandra Jarakiholi won in Arabhavi, Umesh Katti in Hukkeri, K Shivanagowda Naik in Devadurga and Anand Asnotikar in Karwar. J Narasimha Swamy won in Doddaballapur and M D Lakshminarayana in Turuvekere.

There is a very good news for all the state government employees of Haryana. The state government has decided to implement the recommendations of Pay Revision Committee ( PRC ) and revise the pay scales of around 3.5 lakhs employees. The pay revision will be effective from January 1, 2006. The employees will get revised salaries from January, 2009 and 40% of the arrears for 2006-2008 will be paid in cash in the year 2008-2009 itself.

Haryana will be the first State in the country to implement the report of the sixth pay commission, according to State's Finance Minister Birender Singh. The revision of the pay scales of the employees, will add net additional burden of Rs.6431.26 crore in the year 2008-09 and 2009-10.

NMAT-2008 was just a replica of NMAT-2007 as there wasn't any surprise element. Like Nmat 2007 this year there were 150 questions in three sections with 120 minutes as total time. And each wrong mark carried negative mark of 1/4 of the allotted marks.

NMAT Analysis (2008) expected cut off should be something like this:

Overall NMAT 2008 cut off: around 90

In NMAT 2008 if you are scoring anywhere above 90 then we must say that you stand a fair chance to secure an interview call. However, if you have failed it do well in the said exam then instead of bemoaning your faith get ready for the next exam. XAT 2009 is just round the corner.
